The Vice President of the Lebanese Government Mr. Issam Fares received Mr. Terry Road Larsen in a farewell visit as the duration of his mandate came to an end.

They discussed lengthily about the different issues linked to Lebanon’s relations with the United Nations. They especially talked about south Lebanon’s situation and the 1559 resolution and the general situation in the region. Mr. Fares spoke highly of the diplomatic qualities of Mr. Larsen and the efforts and endeavors he achieved in the Middle East wishing him success in his future mission. He also confirmed the official position concerning the different issues discussed.

After the meeting Mr. Fares gave a lunch in the honor of Larsen. Were also present: the ministry the Public Works Mr. Yassine Jabber, the ambassador Antoine Chedid director of the international organizations in the ministry of foreign affairs, the ambassador Khalil Makkawi, Stephan Demistura the personal representative of the general secretary of the United Nations in the South, the general Salim Raad, the general Jean Akl and Mr. Najib Freiji.
