Former Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares considered that the Lebanese public opinion is weary of the denunciations, condemnations, and decrials of the series of campaigns of fears, intimidation, and criminality sweeping Lebanon. Lebanon, he indicated, is striving for the adoption, by the Government, of exceptional measures that would bring to a halt this security unrest which targets Lebanon’s key particularities: the freedom of the press and expression. This unrest also creates an atmosphere of turmoil and upheaval, destabilizes the country, intimidates people, and weakens the Lebanese compatriots’ confidence in their nation and institutions.

Fares also considered that as long as the Lebanese State is incapable of unveiling the identity of the culprits, the forces of evil will not curb their practices and will carry out their atrocious plot.
