"From the Middle East to Latin America and Back: Shared Lessons in Conflict Transformation" Date: Thursday 6 May 2010 Time: 5 - 6.30 p.m. Location: Charles Hostler Center Auditorium, AUB Lower Campus Short Bio: Jamil Mahuad, of Lebanese ancestry, was President of Ecuador from 1998-2000. During his presidency, a historic peace accord was signed, resolving the decades-long border dispute between Ecuador and Peru. Mr. Mahuad was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 for his involvement in the accord. Before becoming President, Mr. Mahuad served as Mayor of Quito for six years. Mr. Mahuad is the Co-founder and Senior Advisor to the International Negotiation Program at Harvard Law School. He is a Board Member of the Abraham Path Initiative, and is a Global Advisory Council Member of Mediators Beyond Borders.
