Short Bio:

Brian Whitaker is the former Middle East editor of the British newspaper The Guardian, and is currently editor of its online Comment is Free section. He is also author of Unspeakable Love: Gay and Lesbian Life in the Middle East (Saqi, 2006). In his latest book, What's Really Wrong with the Middle East (Saqi, 2009), Whitaker examines the structural problems facing the Middle East, particularly the struggles against corruption, discrimination, and authoritarianism.
