Eden Naby is an expert on modern Middle East with emphasis on the area stretching from Iraq to Central Asian Republics. She has extensively worked on minority issues especially on Assyrians, Turkmans, Uighus and Kurds. She is currently focusing on economic and social survival of individuals’ inheritance laws under Dhimmi status.
Dr. Naby has co-authored two books: “The Assyrian Experience: sources for the study of the 19th and the 20th centuries (1999)”, with Michael E. Hopper, and “Afghanistan: Mullah, Marx and Mujahid (2002), with Ralph H. Mangus. Currently, Dr. Naby is editing a book on the Assyrian Diaspora worldwide and preparing a monograph on Assyrians in the Middle East.
Dr. Naby attended Temple University for her undergraduate studies. In 1975, she received her PhD in Central Asian Studies from Columbia University in New York. Her academic experience includes teaching in Iran, lecturing at Harvard University, Columbia University and the University of Massachusetts.
