Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares arrived at Carthage International Airport with H.E. the President of the Republic Mr. Emile Lahoud on the head of a delegation that includes Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, Jamil al-Sayyid the Director-General of the General Security Directorate, Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh, and Lebanon’s Ambassador to Tunis Raymond Roufael. Fares and Lahoud were also accompanied by the head of the Press Syndicate Mohammad Baalbaki.

Tunisian President Zein el-Abidin Bin Ali warmly welcomed the Lebanese delegation and paid tribute to the Lebanese President and saluted the Deputy Premier. The Summit was exceptional in endorsing the proposals submitted by Lebanon.
